Wrong ID in IVS??? IVS issues :(

OK this is a new one. Yesterday I thought it a little strange that someone sent me an episode of Alias (which I decline) for no reason.

I then asked to have people send me 10.5 part 2 and so far I've seen that 2 people have tried to send it to me but I'm not getting errors but I'm also not seeing the request.

So I go into the IVS test page and test my unit's number out (I just received Smallville that completed early this morning) and it comes up with SOMEONE ELSE'S NAME and says it won't display my IP as it doesn't match. That's obviously impossible as I go through one router here and all my other tests show up right. Hence port forwarding IS working - I got Smallville - but that started sending on Sunday when IVS just started working again right from being down most of the weekend.

Has anyone else seen this issue where your ID in IVS goes to someone else's system? I want to make sure I'm not crazy here but this seems to be a symptom since yesterday afternoon/evening which as I am writing this - has fixed itself miraculously. IVS is flaky as hell I'm seeing...

Have you double-checked that you are entering the correct IVS# into the IVS test? I screwed up one number a few weeks ago and it made me go crazy trying to figure it out.

Have you tried forcing a net connect? That should update your correct ip and port if for some reason they were incorrect.

Yep, I'm seeing a similar issue (discussed in this thread).

I've been checking the identity of my problem replay a few times a day for the past week and it changes back and forth often when I use Poopli's IVS Test page. Sometimes showing the name I set (Todnles1) while sometimes showing the other funky name (Walt).

I also posted the issue at AVSForum.com (thread here) and Jeff D gave the suggestion to try using this test: http://WANIP:PORT/ivs-IVSGetUnitInfo. Interestingly enough, this test always returns the correct results from work (through a proxy), but times out from home.

I have two RTV's at home and the second one always returns the correct identity via both tests, while the first one seems to have an identity crisis. Yesterday I tried adding each of my RTV's to each other's address book and received the error that the RTV could not be contacted even though both could connect to the 'mother ship' just fine.

I think I've given up on this... No one seems to really know why this is happening and I'm still able to receive and send shows, although the senders sometimes need to remove/re-add my RTV with the identity crisis. It's a pain, but I can live with it given the benefits of IVS.

You have the wrong link in the above sentence.

Did you ever bring this up with replaylyndon? He might be able to help since the problem seems to be on the side of the IVS servers.

A month or two ago, I received an episode of "Body Shots" (not porn, unfortunately; some health show on tanning and UV exposure) from someone that I don't remember.

The other day I received an unrequested episode of Will & Grace from Drfun2. If Drfun2 is reading this, who did you actually mean to send it to?

This is kinda funny, I know Walt. I was trying to get his unit into my Internet Identities -- it seems to work, but it comes back with this weird name, Todnles1....

Perhaps we should compare INS numbers?

That would explain why someone was trying to send me some episodes of "third watch".

One of my replays has also been having an identiy problem (as noted by Mr. Tact). I'm going to change the replay's identity tonight in the hopes that it may unconfuse things.

My other replay has no problems (it's a 4500).

I've posted my (possibly realted) problem in other threads. My Replay Guide on MyReplayTV.com does not always match my Replay Guide on my Replay unit. This in turn means that my Show Database on Poopli is wrong (since I don't use Wirns) and I get requests for shows that I do not have.

The way things are going, if someone sent me a request for a show that I don't have and I tried to send another show in it's place, it would probably end up going to the wrong person who might actually want what I sent them.

Having experiened and lived through the Northridge, Whittier and several other quakes, ZERO seconds was more than enough time to decide I didn't want to watch that piece of science fantasy. I heard a few clips of it on a morning radio show and it sounded horrible - even spending time considering watching it was overkill! Kim Delany and David Carusso (though he isn't in the movie, but they are both former NYPD Blue 'stars' and she was on CSI:Miami for a bit) should really go back to acting school. Thanksfully, CSI:Miami is still a decent show in spite of him.

BTW, you know that isn't my database, right?
