In the Network Settings area you can manually enter an IP address in there. Then make sure your port forwarding is using the manual (static) ip address.

Don't you have to tell your router to not do dynamic ip addresses? I know it took me some time to get my router set up right - of course I did not document it!

Yes. I assumed that would be done since we were manually entering the IP on the Replay unit.
I should have been more clear.

No. You can (and likely should) leave the DHCP server on your router enabled. Setting a static IP on a ReplayTV (or anything else for that matter) simply tells it to always use that particular IP instead of requesting an IP from a DHCP server (in this case your router). Just make sure you assign static IPs that are in the same subnet as, but outside the range of, those handed out by your DHCP server (router) and also make sure there is only ONE DHCP server on your LAN. If you do this correctly, you will still have the benefit of DHCP plus the stability of a static IP to which to forward ports. Note that some routers' DHCP servers have the option to always hand out the same IP to a specified MAC address via DHCP. Ths is still a DHCP IP but will be functionally equivalent to a static IP in that it will never change.

I agree, you should keep DHCP enabled. If your computer is also behind the router and you disabled DHCP, you'd have to manually configure it's networking information as well. This goes for ALL network devices behind the router. By keeping DHCP enabled, they remain "Plug&Play" with DHCP. My software router's DHCP server supports statically assigned IP addresses based on MAC address. I use that for simplified setup of my Replay.

You can also specify on most routers to always give a certain IP address to a certain MAC address while using DHCP. This is what I use at home on my dlink and netgear routers and it works great.

DHCP is still buggy in Replay's software. Even if my firewall assigns my 5504 a static IP based on MAC sometimes it will *still* try to snag an IP from the DHCP pool. I've always had best results assigning the reaply a manual IP in it's config. Although occasionally it will still act up.

Yup, this is true in build 19. Not all DHCP servers behave the same
way so this IP address creep problem doesn't affect everyone.

If it does affect you, you can see it in action by reducing the lease
time for your DHCP server to something small like 3 minutes and
if you have one of those DHCP servers, you'll see the replay IP
change (even if you have it configured for static)

The reason is the vxworks DHCP requests are present even when
you configure static IP and the OS network layer and Replay App
layer are confusing each other.

Anecdotally it seems people running MAC masquerading bridges
like WET11 or WET54G see this problem more often than others,
but I don't think running a wireless MAC masquerading bridge is
a prerequisite for seeing this problem.

There are various ways to get around the IP address creep, not
all will be effective for everyone.

MAC->IP address mappings in DHCP server
static IP
static IP with DHCP server turned off
DHCP lease times increased to longer than 8 days

My SonicWall won't allow a lease time of that long so I have to use the manual IP / no DHCP range combo in order for things to stay kosher. Thanks for the ino sfhub, interesting.

I had a situation a few weeks ago where my 5040 had 2 addresses listed in the DHCP table (BEFSR41). Whenever I tried to send IVS from that unit, the receiver would have "Network Problems." I deleted the DHCP address for that unit, rebooted it, and let it request a single address, made sure the IVS port was open, and now it works fine.

Was a strange thing to see, though.
