Thank you SOO much for detailed info!!

J.M.,
Your detailed instructions for configuring IVS was AWESOME!!
I have spent hours upon hours trying every sort of configuration,
and read every thread I could find before spotting yours.
The result- SUCCESS, FINALLY!!!
For anyone still having problems, make sure that you change the
IP address in your RTV to the static IP configured in your router.
Simple, I know, but I never saw this part in other instructions.
Every post seemed to focus on changing the port, or the static IP
in the router configuration. I am SOOOOOOO relieved!
Thank you!!,
Patrick

Replay

So you're saying that the IP address of the wireless router and Replay need to be the same? Does not sound right.

I'm about to chuck my Replay for Comcast if I cannot get this to work.

What they are saying is to configure your wireless router to accept traffic from a static IP that is assigned to your ReplayTV, and make sure your ReplayTV is set to that static IP.

If you can't get this to work, you deserve the piece of junk that Comcast will provide.

Replay

I've done that, it still does not work. I have a highly complex configuration running at home because of my job. I have had several people contribute to troubleshooting this without luck for MONTHS. This is a last resort.

My experience

Surely, I'm not experienced enough to give anyone advice on how to set up a Replay's IVS.
I can tell you however how I got mine to finally work.
After many failed attempts, I went back into my routers configuration, and reset everything back to factory settings, and then followed instructions, given by J.M. at the top of this thread.
I switched my RTV, Desktop, and Laptop to static IP's, and I configured my RTV in my router with a high port #.
I then rebooted my RTV by holding the power button in for 10 seconds, and went through the configuration of my RTV. On my RTV, I reset the ethernet setting by switching to modem, then switching back to ethernet connection, which allowed me to get to the ethernet settings. From there, I was able to change the IP for my RTV to the static address I picked in my router.
That did the trick. I hope this helps you!

IVS problem

Sorry to bring this up again, but apparently, I'm a newbie. My IVS used to work, but no longer does. I infrequently use Poopli, since my wife is the main user of Replay. On occassion, I'll miss a football game and use Poopli to download.

So, here's what I've done. I tried testing my IVS at Lunatic Haven and the response is:

Asked ReplayTV server about unit at ISN 00004-54832-41501.
Found on Replay server.

The IP for your ReplayTV is **.*.***.*** (I omitted the #s)
The Port for your ReplayTV is 29050
Invalid response.
200 EOF
The ReplayTV may need to be rebooted.

I then pinged the unit and everything was communicating.

I then tested using http://192.168.0.3/Device_Descr.xml and received the following result:

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
- <root xmlns="urn:schemas-upnp-org:device-1-0">
- <specVersion>
<major>1</major>
<minor>0</minor>
</specVersion>
<URLBase>http://192.168.0.3/</URLBase>
- <device>
<deviceType>urn:replaytv-com:device:ReplayDevice:1</deviceType>
<friendlyName>Living Ro...</friendlyName>
<modelDescription>ReplayTV 5000 Digital Video Recorder</modelDescription>
<modelName>ReplayTV 5000</modelName>
<modelNumber>5040</modelNumber>
<version>530511440</version>
<modelURL>http://www.sonicblue.com</modelURL>
<manufacturer>SONICblue Incorporated</manufacturer>
<manufacturerURL>http://www.sonicblue.com</manufacturerURL>
<serialNumber>RTV5040J3TR01*****</serialNumber>
<UDN>uuid:8dca0fd0-5c14-b850-3167-ae**********</UDN>
<UPC>None</UPC>
</device>
</root>

Then I try http://192.168.0.3:29050/ivs-IVSGetUnitInfo and receive the message "The page cannot be displayed."

My ReplayTV is set up to receive the same IP address from the router and the router is set up to assign the same IP address to the ReplayTV unit. (Obviously, 192.168.0.3).

The port I've assigned on the router to forward is 29050. The port I've opened on the ReplayTV is 29050.

I've rebooted my ReplayTV several times and still cannot pass the tests I've failed above.

Any ideas? Thanks.

you might try going to http://www.whatismyip.com/ and comparing that IP to what IVS tester is reporting when you run it.

have you tried forcing a net connect and then retesting?

IVS Problem

Thanks for the quick response. The IP address for both the IVS test and the website you provided give the same address. I have also done the manual net connects and still nothing.

ReplayTV behind ISA

I'm still having problems and now getting:

Asked ReplayTV server about unit at ISN 00004-54831-49550.
Found on Replay server.

The IP for your ReplayTV is XXX.XXX.X.XX
The Port for your ReplayTV is 5353
Unable to contact ReplayTV unit.
500 Can't connect to XXX.XXX.X.XX:5353 (connect: timeout)
Check your port forwarding settings.

have you conifgured ISA to forward port 5353 to your Replay?

is ISA connected directly to the internet? or does it go through a router?

is your Replay hard-wired directly to the router? or is it connecting wireless through a bridge or something?

ISA

See the start if this thread for more info.

In a nutshell it looks like this:

No DHCP

Firewall (dual NIC'd)-->Linksys WET11 bridge--> ReplayTV 5040

i'm assuming the replay is plugged into the WET11... what is the WET11 connecting to? what's acting as your access point? what kind of wireless connection is it, ie WDS, Client-Bridged, Client-routed, etc.

i used to have a WDS link between 2 WRT54Gs using Sveasoft firmware, and it was rather hit or miss being able to see the DVArchive server from the replay. it had something to do with UPnP traffic not going across the WDS link because UPnP is broadcast traffic and broadcast usually won't go across WDS.

codemantx,

I have comcast high speed coming into a linksys cable modem, which feeds a Netgear wireless router. From there, it is hard wired directly from the router to the replay...no switches, bridges, etc.

hmm... have you power cycled the cable modem and the router?

you might also try a different ethernet cable between the router and the replay. sounds crazy, but you never know.
